Before requesting a visa, please check the following:

Applicants must first check if their Medical Certificate issued by the Immigration Department has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Otherwise the application  cannot be filed until the Medical Certificate has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  1. Petition Letter: Addressed to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs executed by the petitioner or his/her legal representative. Such petition may be requested by an individual or an organisation and shall bear in mind the following:

    a) Information on the petitioner: if an individual, it shall contain name, nationality, place of residence and productive activity of the interested party. If an organisation, besides containing all the information of the petitioner, the petition shall be formulated on letter head paper, be signed by a senior officer, and indicate the position occupied by the petitioner.

    *** It shall include the telephone number and address of the contact, may be at the left of the sheet or at the side or below the petitioner´s signature.

    - The petition letter shall be presented in original and six (6) copies.

    b) Indication of the permanence of the link in the country, in any of the following cases:
    1-b) Be Dominican of origin
    2-b) Be married to a Dominican citizen
    3-b) Demonstrate economic solvency.
    4-b) To have more than one year living or travelling into the country.


  2. Form 509-REF: completed in typed letters or legible case letters. This form has a price of RD$ 5.00 and has also an Internal Revenue stamp of a value of RD$ 2.00. This form may be purchases at the Legalizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


  3. Good Standing Certificate: Mandatory, issued at the country of origin by any of the following institutions: National Police or General Attorney´s Office of the Republic. This certificate is valid only for thirty (30) days.

  4. Medical Certificate: Issued by the Immigration Department, with a value of RD$2,000.00. Once this medical examination is performed, the interested party shall wait a period of fifteen (15) working days to give time to the Immigration Department Authorities to send the results to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Children are not exempted from this exam which is only valid for one year.

  5. Three (3) front pictures and Six (6) side pictures, size 2x2.

  6. Birth Certificate: Translated into Spanish language if the mother language is another one, performed by a Judicial interpreter and legalized by our Dominican Consulate in the corresponding jurisdiction. Both the original of the birth certificate and its translation shall be submitted.

  7. Marriage Certificate: Translated into Spanish by a Judicial Interpreter and legalized by the Dominican Consulate of the corresponding jurisdiction. Both the original and the translation shall be submitted. The Dominican Marriage Certificates shall be legalized by the Central Electoral Board. Attach photocopies of the spouse's identity and electoral card of Dominican origin, and, if is for a legal resident, a copy of the permanent residence or foreigner's identity card.

  8. Guarantee Letter (Notarize): executed by a Dominican or legally resident foreigner in the Dominican Republic and shall specify the kind of relationship linked to the petitioner.

    Likewise, the guarantor shall engage before the Dominican authorities to pay any expense incurred by the petitioner, and if necessary the deportation of the latter due to the violation of the laws of the Dominican Republic. This Guarantee Letter shall be legalized before a Notary Public of our country and shall be legalized at the General Attorney´s Office of the Republic.

  9. Include Economic Solvency Documents: All documents shall be of local investments on behalf of the petitioner and not of the guarantor.

    a) Bank Letter: updated and shall mandatory contain the account's balance.
    b) Copy of Deed Certificates of Properties
    c) Copy of vehicle's matriculation
    d) Incorporation of Companies established (if any), duly legalized by the Ministry of Labor and Certified by Ministry of Industry and Trade.
    e) Copy of Financial Certificates
    f) Employment or Pension Letter
    g) Purchase Agreement, Affidavit of Revenues, etc.

    NOTE: All these documents issued by institutions located in the country of origin, accounts or properties abroad are not accepted; all shall be local investments on behalf of the petitioner and not the guarantor.

  10. Certification issued by the Immigration Department: evidencing the last entrance to the country of the person or tourist card, double faced copied (four copies).

  11. Two (2) sets of copies of the complete passport: from the first page until the last one, including the blank pages (all pages).

  12. The passport shall have a minimum force of six (6) months.
